FBA Multichannel: Using FBA To Sell On Jet.com

Posted: August 12, 2015

As customers become conditioned to default to Prime-eligible listings, is FBA a necessary fulfillment method for your multi-channel business? If you're using FBA as your primary fulfillment method, and you want to start selling on Jet.com, this article is for you.

Fulfillment By Amazon, better known as FBA, is an amazingly convenient way for Amazon Sellers to sell on Amazon.com. Using FBA, Sellers simply ship bulk inventory to designated Amazon Fulfillment Centers and Amazon handles the fulfillment and after-sale support. Let's face it, having Prime-eligible inventory is becoming a must-have as many Amazon customers only buy products that qualify for free shipping. Even if you have the best price, we've spoken with countless customers who would rather pay more for the Prime option. The Prime logo instills trust, and Amazon die hards want it. As Amazon customers become conditioned to default to Prime, in most cases, FBA Sellers are taking an increasing share of the marketplace pie while investing fewer resources in customer service and operations.

If you're selling on Amazon and you're not yet using FBA, we recommend giving it some serious thought and perhaps running an experiment to determine the potential opportunity for your business.

But what about leveraging your FBA inventory to sell to customers outside of Amazon.com?

There's a whole new world emerging outside of Amazon for marketplace sellers. We are referring to the new Jet.com shopping club and we are very excited about what this will mean for multi-channel sellers like you.

With Amazon's Multi-Channel Fulfillment, you can ship to customers outside of Amazon.com with non-Amazon branded packaging and customizable packing slips.

Using FBA for Multi-Channel Fulfillment is not for everyone. We've spoken with many merchants - particularly those involved in highly competitive, low margin product lines - that are not willing to pay the increased handling fees associated with Amazon's Multi-Channel Fulfillment offering. However, if you're working with higher margins, and your primary channel is Amazon, the convenience of FBA Multi-Channel can certainly represent a great opportunity for your business as you expand to additional channels.

We're helping FBA Sellers automate their multi-channel fulfillment to Jet.com, eBay, Shopify, and more. The industry lingo for this is "auto MCF" or "FBA multi-channel automation". If this sounds interesting, be sure to get in touch!

Happy Selling!
